A group exhibition at HilbertRaum, Berlin

Submissions are sought for inclusion in a group exhibition Through the Eyes of a Child at HilbertRaum gallery in Berlin from 9-18 August 2024. The exhibition will feature work that explores the relationships between artists and children, whether through artists collaborating with children, artists using children as a motif, or artist-parents exploring the creative influence on their work of having children.

Celebrating the obvious differences between the thought-processes of children and adults, the exhibition is at the same time critical of clichéd ideas of “childlike creativity”, such as those expressed in the Picasso quote that it took him "4 years to learn to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child", or those TEDTalks etc. associated with the “creativity industry” that promote half-digested ideas from psychology about children’s minds.

Works in any media will be considered. Please send appropriate documentation of your proposed work(s) (up to 10 images and/or 3-minute video clip per work, along with a max. 200-word text explaining their context, plus

HilbertRaum is an independent, artist-run, non-commercial project space. No exhibiting fee or transport costs will be offered. Selected artworks will be fully insured by the gallery.
